This position supports the accounting and financial reporting activities of our Canadian legal entities across the country and assists with future acquisitions and growth. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Junior Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close activities, and financial reporting processes while developing technical accounting skills in a corporate environment. Job Duties: Assist with the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly internal financial statements and support for quarterly and annual reporting Prepare and post routine journal entries, including accruals, payroll, and other month‑end entries Assist with general ledger account reconciliations and investigate variances as required Support balance sheet reconciliations under the guidance of senior team members Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing activities in accordance with established timelines Maintain and update general ledger data, including support for chart of accounts maintenance Assist with the preparation and maintenance of fixed asset records and depreciation schedules Support accounting for capital leases and loans Assist in preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation for mid‑year and year‑end audits Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations Support the preparation and filing of sales taxes and other statutory remittances Assist with daily cash and bank reconciliations Support resolution of unapplied transactions and assist with bad‑debt tracking Assist with ERP system enhancements, testing, and finance‑related projects Support annual budget preparation and basic financial analysis Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Minimum 1–2 years of corporate accounting or related experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Exposure to MS Dynamics Great Plains (or similar ERP) is an asset Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, PivotTables) Basic working knowledge of Canadian GAAP / IFRS Strong attention to detail with good analytical skills Effective communication and organizational skills Experience in a Shared Services or multi‑entity environment is an asset Willingness to learn and develop in a fast‑paced corporate environment
