Project Development Define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with operations, engineering, and maintenance stakeholders. Develop the project scope of work, including technical requirements Identify project constraints, risks, and constructability considerations. Develop class 2 cost estimates, schedules, and execution strategies. Prepare documentation required to advance projects through the BHP toll gate process. Support procurement and contract award by creating RFP scopes of supply, reviewing vendor proposals and aligning with budget allowances. Design Coordination Coordinate engineering disciplines supporting underground conveyor design, including: Mechanical systems Structural supports Electrical and controls Civil / underground infrastructure Facilitate design reviews and ensure stakeholder alignment. Ensure designs meet operational, safety, and maintainability requirements. Manage and finalize partially completed engineering deliverables including: Layouts Equipment specifications Installation methodologies Design packages Identify long-lead materials and procurement requirements. Procurement & Logistics Inventory existing materials Develop procurement strategies for conveyor systems, structural components, and supporting infrastructure. Coordinate with supply chain teams to: Prepare bid packages Evaluate vendor proposals Award purchase orders Manage procurement of long-lead items Ensure timely delivery of materials aligned with the project schedule. Execution & Field Management Direct construction, assisted by Project Coordinators Manage contractors on site, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are achieved. Maintain cost control throughout execution, providing accurate forecasts and variance reporting. Facilitate weekly contractor meetings Resolve field issues by engaging with design teams and operations group. Track productivity and unit rates to inform ongoing and future estimates. Health, Safety, Environment & Compliance Ensure implementation of project specific HSE management systems. Ensure compliance with legislative, organizational, and site standards, Conduct site inspections, attend toolbox talks, and participate in incident investigations. Project Closeout Deliver completed scopes of supply Compile as-built drawings, blacklines, turnover packages, and lessons learned. Conduct post-project review with operations and engineering teams.
Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in engineering: Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering 10+ Years of industry relevant experience Including 7+ years project management experience OR Engineering Technologist / Technical Diploma 12+ Years of industry relevant experience Including 7+ years project management experience Technical Skills Commitment to Safety Ability to manage small to medium-sized projects or workstreams. Experience in preparing technical reports, documentation, and presentations. Understanding of budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
