Turner & Townsend is seeking an Assistant Cost Manager to join our Industrial and Data Center Construction team in Querétaro City, Mexico. This is an on-site role offering the opportunity to work on major construction projects with significant cost management responsibilities.
You will prepare estimations according to all design phases, monitor and control valuations, and participate in value engineering sessions. Your role includes preparing and analyzing change orders, developing the primary project budget, and developing progress measurement criteria with vendors.
You will collect cost market data, support the quotation process responding to questions from services and materials proponents, and produce cash flow forecasts for internal and client purposes. Additionally, you will quantify materials and labour for all phases of a project, prepare cost-benefit analysis, and review project budgets after design packages issuance by the technical team.
You will collaborate with the creation of recommendation reports, participate in weekly project and departmental meetings, and issue weekly progress reports on project costs including forecasting reimbursable expenses.
Candidates must be degree-qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveyor, Engineering, or Architecture with a minimum of 3 years of experience in similar roles. You should have knowledge and understanding of the component parts of a project and overall construction costs, with the ability to analyse and interpret commercial and technical project documentation.
Proficiency in IT packages including Microsoft Office is required, along with exceptional relationship building skills. You should be self-motivated and proactive with commercial awareness and understanding of the construction process, possessing excellent communication skills both oral and written, and strong negotiation skills.
