Western Digital is seeking a Technician 2 for our Manufacturing team in Bayan Lepas, Penang. As a Sputter Process Technician, you will play a critical role in executing process characterization activities while ensuring sputter processes meet key performance parameters. This position supports production through diligent process monitoring and precise adjustments.
You will perform measurements on characterization and evaluation samples following experiment plans prepared by Engineers, alongside production monitoring samples. The role involves troubleshooting metrology tools, compiling data using Excel or PowerPoint, and monitoring machine alarms to take appropriate action based on established guidelines. You will carry out periodic sample housekeeping and support other departments in resolving assembly issues through the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
The ideal candidate holds a Diploma or Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronic/Electromechanical, or Electrical/Electronic). We seek individuals who can work with minimal supervision, take initiative, and collaborate effectively across teams. The successful candidate demonstrates willingness to learn, flexibility, creative problem-solving abilities, exemplary communication skills, and the capacity to think quickly under pressure.
Candidates must be flexible to work a 12-hour shift pattern and overtime as required by the team. You will comply with and support EHS policies while participating in company activities such as IMS, 6S, RBA, and BCMS initiatives.
