Discovery Biotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine at AbbVie is seeking a Principal Research Scientist I to join our Biotherapeutics group at the AbbVie Bay Area site in South San Francisco. This role leads therapeutic programs focusing on biophysical screening to advance biotherapeutics from early exploration through lead identification and optimization.
You will lead large molecule biologics projects from exploratory to optimization stages, driving Go/No Go decisions. The role requires effective partnership with functional and therapeutic areas to achieve project objectives while identifying and integrating cutting-edge technologies into screening and assay development. You will multitask within timelines while maintaining high productivity, supervise 1-2 scientists, evaluate team performance, and ensure effective team performance. Close partnerships with Oncology teams will be required to drive transformative ideas to the clinic.
The ideal candidate possesses expertise in high-throughput biologics screening and characterization methods including ELISA, FACS, BLI, and SPR. You should have solid foundation in protein sciences and antibody discovery with proven ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams. This role requires 14+ years (BS), 12+ years (MS), or 6+ years (PhD) of relevant experience.
