The Phlebotomist at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare provides technically expert phlebotomy services by accurately collecting blood specimens for laboratory analysis. This casual day position requires exceptional patient care skills and precise technical abilities.
You will greet patients, maintain patient flow, and complete accurate voucher information while verifying patient demographic data. Your role includes assessing patient conditions to determine the most effective methods for obtaining samples and verifying test requests before proceeding.
Prepare appropriate supplies and obtain samples using proper venipuncture or micro techniques. You'll instruct patients in the collection of various non-blood specimens including urine cultures, 24-hour urines, ova/parasites, and stool samples.
Ensure accurate voucher information, prepare completed samples for courier transport, and process drop-offs. You'll investigate lost, broken, mislabeled, or incorrectly identified specimens and follow through to resolution, maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
