Northwestern Medicine seeks an experienced Pharmacy Technician III for our Hazardous Compounding Inpatient Oncology team. This casual rotating position involves advanced technical duties associated with daily pharmacy operations, focusing on sterile product compounding for cancer treatment.
Under the direction of a registered pharmacist, you will perform prescription-related functions, unit dose operations, and sterile product compounding. This role handles the more advanced and complex work performed by pharmacy technicians, including preparing medication orders for inpatients and outpatients, scheduling IV admixture solutions, and ensuring proper medication delivery to nursing units.
This is a casual status position requiring weekend coverage every other Saturday and Sunday, or six weekend shifts within a six-week scheduling period. The initial training/orientation period spans one to two months with 160 hours anticipated. Shifts rotate between day and evening schedules, with holiday commitment of one winter and one summer holiday.
Candidates must demonstrate expertise in hazardous drug handling, sterile compounding techniques, and medication safety protocols. Pharmacy Technician certification and oncology compounding experience are required.
