Northwestern Memorial Healthcare seeks a dedicated Mental Health Worker for our Inpatient Psychiatry unit in Chicago, Illinois. This part-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives while working within a supportive interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Role Overview: Under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed health professional, you will assist in providing care for individuals and groups of patients while maintaining a therapeutic environment. This position reflects Northwestern Medicine's mission, vision, and values while adhering to our Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program.
Patient Care Responsibilities: You will assist in the initial and ongoing identification of patient problems and strengths, working cooperatively with interdisciplinary team members to develop comprehensive treatment plans. Communication of patient status to licensed professionals is essential, as is providing individual and group interventions to meet patient needs as directed.
Group Facilitation: The role includes leading or co-leading supportive groups as determined by the manager, supporting patients in developing social, daily living, and problem-solving skills through individual, group, or milieu contact. You will respond to and follow through with patient needs and requests while assisting patients in their relationships with others in the therapeutic milieu.
Documentation & Professional Growth: Timely, accurate, and appropriate clinical documentation in patient records is required. You will identify your own role limitations and utilize appropriate clinical resources, fostering a milieu conducive to communication and cooperation among patients, families, visitors, and staff.
