As a member of the healthcare team, the Medical Assistant is primarily responsible for providing support to physicians, nurses, and other licensed medical staff by facilitating efficient patient flow, assisting with various patient care activities, and performing related administrative functions in our Oncology department at the Bronzeville location.
As a Medical Assistant, you will ensure efficient patient flow through the clinic by escorting patients to exam rooms, identifying patients using two identifiers, and preparing them for examination. You will obtain accurate vital signs per organization standards and document the reason for visit while updating and confirming allergies, smoking history, and pharmacy information. You will promptly inform the provider and registered nurse of any significant changes in vital signs or acute symptoms. The role involves anticipating and setting up equipment or supplies needed for visits, cleaning and preparing exam rooms for subsequent patients, and responding to needs that expedite visits and maintain patient flow. You will prioritize tasks effectively while maintaining a neat, clean, and safe patient care area. Promoting patient satisfaction through professional, friendly interactions is a key component of this role, as is safeguarding patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Candidates should possess a Medical Assistant certification or equivalent training. Previous experience in a clinical setting, preferably in oncology, is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. The ideal candidate demonstrates compassion, professionalism, and commitment to providing excellent patient care.
