Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is seeking a compassionate Labor & Delivery Tech for our Mother Baby unit in Huntley, Illinois. This part-time night shift position offers the opportunity to support new mothers and infants during a special time while working alongside experienced healthcare professionals.
Role Overview: The Labor & Delivery Tech assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to non-critically ill patients, and maintains a safe, clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge. This position reflects Northwestern Medicine's mission, vision, and values while adhering to all organizational policies and regulatory standards.
Patient Care Responsibilities: You will perform basic patient care including vital signs monitoring, skin care, and personal care while considering age-specific needs and standards of care. Maintaining patient rooms in a clean, neat manner and restocking areas as directed ensures optimal patient comfort and satisfaction.
Clinical Support: The role includes collecting and labeling specimens (urine, stool, and sputum) accurately according to policy, identifying and transporting blood/blood components and specimens using appropriate bloodborne pathogen precautions, and identifying and managing drains and tubes.
Professional Development: You will use organizational and unit resources efficiently, manage your work schedule effectively, and contribute to continuous improvement opportunities. Participating in cost reduction efforts and service improvement initiatives demonstrates commitment to organizational excellence while reinforcing teaching previously provided by the RN.
