The General Sales Manager position at Lute Riley Honda, part of Sonic Automotive, is a leadership role focused on ensuring the dealership achieves its unit sales quotas and gross profit objectives across daily, monthly, and yearly timeframes. This position requires comprehensive planning, organization, coordination, and performance measurement of both New and Used vehicle Sales Departments to drive dealership success.
As General Sales Manager, you will develop monthly vehicle requirement projections and establish comprehensive forecasts for unit sales, gross profit, and departmental profitability. You will conduct individual forecasting sessions with each salesperson to set clear objectives for customer volume, closing percentages, prospecting efforts, and projected income targets. Daily meetings with sales team members to review performance results and plan daily activities are a core responsibility.
You will lead sales meetings, provide on-the-job training for sales staff, and recommend procedures to the Dealer regarding advertising strategies, sales promotions, staffing needs, compensation plans, and customer complaint resolution processes. Maintaining a balanced inventory and establishing programs for moving vehicles over 90 days (new) and 45 days (used) is essential. You will ensure salespeople follow established prospecting programs and that all prospects receive appropriate personal follow-up.
Additional responsibilities include reviewing monthly commission sheets, productivity reports, and profit performance by salesperson and department with the Dealer. You will maintain standards for displaying, merchandising, and maintaining all vehicles and demonstrators while implementing and monitoring Factory Standards and programs to achieve 100% Customer Satisfaction. Conducting and documenting ongoing safety training is also required.
The successful candidate will have proven automotive sales management experience, strong leadership capabilities, and excellent analytical skills. You should demonstrate expertise in inventory management, sales forecasting, and team development with a commitment to customer satisfaction excellence.
