Job Summary: The Fleet Manager provides strategic input and operational leadership for all fleet and facility functions in support of the Company’s business continuity and disaster recovery operations. This role oversees the lifecycle management of more than 1,000 assets, manages vendor relationships, and directs storm deployment fleet operations nationwide. Additionally, this position ensures that the fleet and facility readiness align with Company growth, client needs, and storm response operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage lifecycle, readiness, and performance of a fleet of 1,000+ assets including housing trailers, trucks, power generation, light towers, and catering units
• Forecast and plan for major projects, fleetwide repairs, and CAPEX investments
• Maintain strong vendor relationships; identify new suppliers for parts, repairs, and specialized services
• Partner with the Fleet Management vendor and senior leadership to drive equipment purchase, leasing, and disposal strategies
• Execute CAPEX projects by sourcing vendor quotes, managing orders, tracking deliveries, coordinating inspections, and ensuring storm readiness
• Oversee maintenance, safety, and compliance for multiple yards and facilities across the U.S
• Manage vendor and landlord relationships for facility services, repairs, and inspections
• Collaborate with the Risk Department to investigate, document, and resolve vehicle and equipment claims, ensuring timely communication, accurate reporting, and effective coordination
• Develop fleet policies, SOPs, and technology implementation (GPS, telematics, fleet software)
• Oversee all fleet operations during storm deployments, managing up to six staging yards, including:
o Direct staffing efforts to secure yard directors, drivers, transport coordinators, and logistics personnel
o Manage logistics fulfillment processes for Company-owned equipment, fuel, and supplies across client yards
o Oversee transportation operations for large-scale movement of equipment and supplies; establish routing priorities, secure drivers and brokers, and coordinate rentals
o Supervise the tracking of equipment ETAs, hazards, and reroutes
o Oversee the Maintenance Team Supervisor with a team of mechanics (10–50 staff depending on event size) to conduct field repairs and services of RLI and rental equipment
o Advise incident commanders on equipment allocation, movement timing, and availability
• Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory duties in accordance with the Company’s objectives, policies, and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: planning, assigning, and directing work, interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing employee concerns, and partnering with Human Resources to resolve escalated employee matters.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and industry-related experience
Experience:
• Five years of progressive fleet management experience, preferably in logistics or a disaster recovery environment
• Experience supervising teams and daily operations
• Experience managing multi-site teams and vendor/partner relationships
• Demonstrated success in life cycle fleet management
• Superior working knowledge of vehicle systems and maintenance processes
• Expert knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA compliance, and maintaining road-legal commercial vehicles and equipment
• Experience managing contracts, including leasing, procurement, and disposal
• Commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred
• Experience working in high-volume and fast paced operational settings
