Ummh is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Clearance Specialist to join our Financial Clearance team at the Worcester Business Center. This full-time position offers 40 hours per week with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, providing excellent work-life balance with no weekend or holiday requirements.
You will be responsible for assessing and verifying patient information for scheduled medical services. This requires verification of patients' demographic, financial, and insurance information. Your duties include collecting co-pays, deductibles, coinsurances, and down payments, providing cost estimates for procedures and services, determining insurance eligibility and benefits, obtaining necessary authorizations and referrals, resolving billing discrepancies, and maintaining accurate financial records. You will serve as a key point of contact for patients regarding financial matters and payment arrangements.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree preferred. Previous experience in healthcare billing, insurance verification, or patient financial services is highly desirable. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency with financial software are essential. Knowledge of insurance plans, Medicare, and Medicaid regulations is preferred.
This non-exempt position offers a competitive hourly range of $20.94 to $29.27, with final offers based on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations. A signing bonus may be available - eligibility will be confirmed during the interview process. This is a union position represented by SHARE (State Healthcare and Research Employees).
