The Facilities Engineer II night shift position at Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital offers an opportunity for a licensed operating engineer to maintain critical building mechanical systems. This full-time position operates at 40 hours per week on night shift.
As a licensed operating engineer, you will operate and maintain building mechanical systems and equipment essential to hospital operations during night hours. The power plant equipment includes high pressure boilers, chillers, and medical air compressors requiring specialized expertise.
The primary goals include operating equipment safely, efficiently, and reliably with minimal unscheduled shutdowns. You will ensure comfortable and safe ambient space conditions for all building occupants while maintaining overnight operations.
You will operate and assist in maintaining and repairing all power plant equipment with minor supervision. This includes monitoring engineering systems and taking emergency actions when necessary during night operations.
The role involves operating high pressure boilers, chillers, cooling towers, domestic hot water heating systems, generators, electrical switchgear, and energy management systems. You will perform safety checks, conduct repairs and preventive maintenance, and maintain equipment appearance.
Chemical analysis of boiler, chiller, and cooling tower water systems ensures optimal equipment performance and longevity.
