About the role If you’ve built data governance from the ground up, partnered closely with diverse stakeholders and enjoy turning complexity into clarity, this is a role where you can truly make your mark. We’re looking for a Data Governance Analyst to join our Data & AI team at Bunnings and help shape how data is governed, protected and trusted across the business — a million ways to make an impact . This role suits someone who’s come from a consultancy or advisory background, or who’s worked end‑to‑end across data governance in complex environments. You’ll work right across the data lifecycle, influencing how teams think about data and helping embed practical, fit‑for‑purpose governance that supports better decisions for our team members, stores and customers. You’ll be part of a collaborative, down‑to‑earth team that values curiosity, learning and experimentation — Inspiring you to give it a red hot go as you continue to grow your data governance craft. What’s involved This role offers variety, visibility and the chance to see your work land in real ways across the business. You’ll have the opportunity to: Bring data governance to life end‑to‑end by translating frameworks and principles into practical standards, processes and ways of working that teams can easily adopt. Partner deeply with stakeholders across the business, including the Data Council, data stewards, technology teams and operational leaders, to uplift governance across priority data domains. Guide improvements across the full data lifecycle — from creation and usage through to retention and disposal — ensuring data is trusted, well managed and available when it matters. Work hands‑on with data quality, helping identify issues, shape remediation approaches and design sustainable controls alongside business and technical teams. Contribute to protecting critical and sensitive data by supporting the development and application of policies, standards and controls that balance risk, compliance and usability. Build data governance capability and awareness through clear guidance, practical tools, workshops and training that make governance easy to understand and apply. Your work will show up in stronger reporting, clearer insights and more confident decision‑making across Bunnings. About you You’re someone who thrives in roles where influence matters. You’re comfortable working across ambiguity, engaging with senior and operational stakeholders alike, and guiding teams through change with clarity and confidence. You likely bring experience from consultancy or enterprise environments where you’ve worked end‑to‑end across data governance initiatives — listening first, asking the right questions and tailoring solutions to the business context. You enjoy switching between strategic thinking and hands‑on delivery, and you’re energised by helping teams move from ideas to action. Communication is one of your strengths. You can facilitate workshops, simplify complex data concepts, and bring people along the journey through clear, thoughtful conversations and written communication. Collaboration comes naturally to you, and you build trust through your pragmatic, respectful and solutions‑focused approach. You’ll be joining a supportive, close‑knit team that shares knowledge openly, backs each other in and is always looking for better ways of working. What you’ll need To set you up for success, you’ll bring: 2–4 years’ experience working end‑to‑end in data governance, ideally within consultancy or complex enterprise environments Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering across business, technology and data teams Practical knowledge of data governance concepts such as data stewardship, metadata, master data, data quality and data controls Experience working with data catalogues, data quality tools and visualisation platforms such as Power BI (or similar) Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Law, Business or a related field (advantageous but not essential) Ready to help lift data governance at Bunnings and shape how data supports better outcomes for our teams and customers?
