Position: Electrician
Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Duration: Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire
Shifts: 2nd Shift
Pay Rate: Up to $39.00/hour (based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electrician to support installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in a production environment. This role requires adherence to safety standards, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Installation & Maintenance Install, modify, and maintain electrical systems in accordance with local and national electrical codes Plan and execute installations to ensure efficiency, accessibility for maintenance, and long-term reliability Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications Apply journeyman-level electrical skills in system installation, troubleshooting, and repair Troubleshooting & Equipment Support Diagnose and repair electrical issues across various systems and equipment Apply basic mechanical knowledge when supporting systems such as HVAC or refrigeration equipment, as needed Perform work based on project drawings, specifications, and operational requirements Worksite & Safety Compliance Maintain clean, organized work areas both in-shop and on job sites Follow all established safety procedures and company policies, including lockout/tagout and hazard communication Demonstrate proper handling and care of tools and equipment Work from ladders of various types and sizes as required General Duties Complete all required documentation and reports accurately Adhere to assigned schedules, attendance expectations, and project timelines Support additional tasks or assignments as needed Attend required training and safety sessions Travel to job sites when necessary
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of electrical work across multiple phases of installation and repair Familiarity with current electrical codes and industry standards Ability to bend conduit using manual, mechanical, or hydraulic methods Proficiency with industry tools such as power tools, cable cutters, drills, threaders, and related equipment Ability to operate heavy-duty and two-handed tools safely and effectively
Qualifications & Experience
Progressive experience in electrical maintenance and repair at the journeyman level Prior supervisory or lead experience is a plus Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems (e.g., HVAC, refrigeration, or similar equipment) preferred Minimum of 4 years of commercial electrical experience preferred Demonstrated ability to bend conduit
