We are looking to hire a motivated and enthusiastic Civil Engineer with some experience in Geotechnical enginering to join our Ground engineering & Tunneling team as a Junior Geotechnical Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career engineer who is eager to develop their skills while contributing to technically challenging underground and large‑scale infrastructure projects. Working as part of a multicultural team with other engineers on site in Madrid and in other offices (Poland, India, among others) you will be involved in developing all aspects of mid- to large-scale projects supported by Enterprise Capabilities area. Key responsibilities Support and contribute to subsurface investigations, including planning, interpretation of ground investigation data, engineering analysis, and preparation of geotechnical design recommendations to meet project and client requirements. Carry out ground engineering design tasks for a given project, such as: Bearing capacity and settlement analysis for foundations Earthworks and ground improvement solutions Stability analyses (slopes, excavations, embankments) Input to tunnelling and underground works design, where applicable Perform defined and limited portions of larger engineering assignments, working under the guidance of senior engineers while gradually taking increasing technical responsibility. Independently develop engineering calculations, technical notes, and draft reports, with review and mentoring from senior team members, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Contribute to value engineering exercises of low to moderate complexity, evaluating alternative design solutions, materials, or construction methods. Participate in quality control reviews of calculations, drawings and technical documentation, including involvement in interdisciplinary design reviews. Support the project team in achieving technical objectives, milestones, budget and programme requirements. Bachelor’s or Master degree in Geological Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering from a recognized University. Proven track record of working 2 to 5 years on ground and tunneling engineering designs for Transportation and Water Projects. Fluency in English language is essential (reading, writing, and speaking). Good command in Spanish will be a plus. Experience in planning and managing subsurface investigations. Also processing geotechnical data for ground interpretation, assessment, and report preparation. Previous experienced in subsurface investigation planning and execution, foundation design (shallow and deep), slope stability, seepage analysis, retaining wall design, settlement analyses, ground improvement techniques. Experience in Rock Mechanics, rock slopes design. Proficiency in the use of specific ground engineering and tunneling software as Geoestudio / Plaxis (2D/3D) / Rocscience / Ensoft. Knowledge of Openground and Leapfrog will be very positive. Some exposure collaborating within international and multi-cultural teams, as well as working with international regulations and standards. Knowledge in soft soils, ground improvement, and PVD/surcharging would be especially valuable. Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines, external partners and clients to support efficient and successful project delivery.
