About the Role Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain, is looking for a Social Lead to own and evolve our social presence across platforms. This role will shape how Base shows up online, from daily conversation on crypto Twitter to large-scale ecosystem storytelling. You’ll be responsible for developing social strategy, creating and distributing high-impact content, and engaging directly with builders, creators, and the broader crypto community. The ideal candidate understands internet culture, thrives in fast-moving environments, and knows how to translate complex ideas into posts that resonate with crypto-native audiences. This role sits at the intersection of marketing, ecosystem growth, and communications. You’ll work closely with teams across Base and Coinbase to highlight builders, launch initiatives, and ensure Base’s voice remains credible, relevant, and deeply embedded in the onchain conversation. What you’ll be doing: Own social strategy: Develop and execute Base’s social strategy across platforms including X, Farcaster, and emerging crypto-native networks. Shape how Base shows up in daily discourse and key industry moments. Leadership and operations: oversee the Base social team, support their work and development, and set them up for success. Content creation & distribution: Create and publish social-first content that communicates Base’s mission, ecosystem activity, and cultural moments. Translate product launches, builder stories, and ecosystem updates into engaging social formats. Ecosystem amplification: Partner with builders, creators, and ecosystem teams to spotlight projects launching on Base and amplify their stories through social channels. Community engagement: Actively participate in crypto-native conversations, responding to trends, engaging with builders and creators, and maintaining Base’s presence in real-time discussions. Campaigns & launch moments: Lead social planning for major announcements, campaigns, and events such as ecosystem launches, global activations, and industry conferences. Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with product, developer relations, communications, and marketing teams to align messaging and ensure coordinated launches. Analytics & optimization: Track social performance, analyze trends and sentiment, and continuously refine content strategies to improve reach, engagement, and impact. What we look for in you: Experience: 6+ years managing social media or digital content for high-growth technology, crypto, or internet-native brands. Leadership: Experience running teams, building and executing content strategy, and developing talent. Crypto native: Deep familiarity with crypto culture, communities, and platforms. Comfortable navigating conversations across crypto Twitter and emerging social ecosystems. Strong content instincts: Ability to craft clear, concise, and culturally relevant posts that resonate with technical and non-technical audiences. Creative & experimental: Comfortable testing new formats, memes, and content strategies to reach new audiences and keep the brand culturally relevant. Data driven: Experience using analytics to evaluate performance, test hypotheses, and inform content strategy. Operational excellence: Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining high-quality output.
