The Automotive Technician position at Land Rover Pasadena, part of Sonic Automotive, is responsible for performing comprehensive vehicle repair and maintenance services in accordance with dealership and factory standards. This role also includes supervisory responsibilities for apprentice technicians assigned to your work area.
As Service Technician, you will receive repair orders from the dispatcher and take them to your stall area for execution. You will perform all work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, adhering to both dealership and factory standards. Diagnosing the cause of any malfunction and performing appropriate repairs is a core responsibility of this position.
You will communicate effectively with the parts department to obtain needed parts for repairs. When jobs are under warranty or when requested by customers, you will save and tag parts appropriately. Examining vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is required demonstrates your commitment to comprehensive vehicle care.
Timely communication is essential - you will notify service advisors immediately if additional outlined work is not needed or if repairs cannot be completed within promised timeframes. Documenting all work performed is required for quality assurance and warranty compliance. You will road-test vehicles when required or refer to test technicians, keeping in mind that customer vehicles should never be used for personal errands.
Additional responsibilities include supervising apprentice technicians as assigned, attending factory-sponsored training classes, and keeping abreast of factory technical bulletins. You will ensure customers' cars are kept clean and maintain a neat, organized shop area while accounting for all dealership-owned tools at all times. Understanding and following federal, state, and local safety regulations is mandatory.
The ideal candidate will have automotive technician certification or equivalent experience, strong diagnostic skills, and knowledge of Land Rover vehicles. You should possess your own tools, demonstrate attention to detail, and commit to ongoing technical training and professional development.
